Abstract: To develop an in-service training satisfaction scale for primary and secondary school physical education teachers in China based on relevant national documents, teacher education-related theories and the actual situation of physical education teachers' in-service training, so as to provide a corresponding measurement tool for the performance evaluation and quality improvement of primary and secondary school physical education teachers’ training. Based on the literature analysis, the concept of in-service training satisfaction of primary and secondary school physical education teachers and related dimensions were defined and a pool of items was established; subsequently, an expert questionnaire was used to complete the initial screening of the scale items; finally, the initial scale was used to test and analyse item discrimination, district discrimination, reliability and validity to test and revise the scientific validity of the scale. The developed scale included 5 dimensions of training system, training resources, training process, training services and training effectiveness, with a total of 35 items. The retest reliability of the subscales and the total scale ranged from 0.780 to 0.919 (P<0.01), and the Cronbach’s alpha coefficient ranged from 0.754 to 0.904 (P<0.01); the factor loadings of each item ranged from 0.415 to 0.876, which met the requirements of the measurement indexes for the development of the scale. Conclusion: The scale was developed with standardized procedures and satisfactory reliability, and can be used as a scientific and standardized assessment tool for related training work.
