Abstract: Objective: To explore the influential mechanism of social media in promoting adolescents' sports behavior, and to provide a reference for promoting the generation and maintenance of adolescents' sports behavior in the new media environment. Methods: A mixed-method approach was used to reveal the relationship between social media (social sharing and social competition), social self-efficacy, self-presentation and adolescents' sports behaviors, and the influential mechanism of social media on adolescents' sports behaviors. Results: Social sharing and social competition have positive facilitative effects on adolescents' sports behavior. Social self-efficacy plays a mediating role among social sharing, social competition and adolescents' sports behavior, while self-presentation does not play a positive moderating role between social sharing, social competition and adolescents' sports behavior. Social media promotes adolescents' sports behavior by influencing adolescents' sports attitudes and perceptions through social interactions and sports punch cards. Conclusion: Social media not only shape users' personal body perceptions, but also influence users' body perceptions of communication targets as well as their attitudes toward sports behavior. Social media facilitates the development of adolescents' sports behavior through the open-ended closed-loop role of embodied media, physical discipline, technological tools, and information feedback.

Key words: social media, adolescents, sports behavior, influencial mechanism, mixed method
