Abstract: Session rating of perceived exertion (sRPE) is a method to quantify training load by evaluating perceived exertion/fatigue during exercise. Despite the poor scorer reliability, the retest reliability of sRPE is high. SRPE has high validity in different sports, gender and age. Collection method, number of training groups, caffeine, ambient temperature, tactile sensation, mental fatigue and circadian rhythm all have effects on sRPE. It is suggested to use CR10 scale in horizontal and vertical use, collect RPE of athletes within 5-30min after exercise, and include all preparation activities, main course training and finishing activities into the exercise duration. The factors, which cannot be controlled but have an impact, should be recorded in detail and referred to in the later analysis process. Future studies could further explore the value of sRPE in injury prevention and performance improvement.
