Abstract: COVID-19 is spreading across the world, not only affecting the health and training of elite athletes, but also putting China in a passive position in preparing for the 2024 Olympic Games. This paper analyzes and summarizes the advantages and disadvantages of Chinese elite athletes in Olympic preparation and competition by using the methods of literature and logical reasoning. It is proposed that the "whole nation system", the mature medical system and the stablepandemic control provide strong support and guarantee for Chinese elite athletes' preparation and competition. However, the shortened preparation cycle, overlapping events and overseas participation pose great challenges for them. In view of these, this paper proposes the following measures to guarantee athletes' preparation: strengthen public health safety management, strengthen physical training to make up for competitive shortcomings, build psychological intervention and treatment platform, optimize the competitive training cycle, and improve the guarantee policy.
