Promoting Employment through Winter Olympic Games: International Experience and China's Strategy

Abstract: Hosting the Winter Olympics is a rare development opportunity for the city of Zhangjiakou, and under the pressure of increasing economic downturn, it is urgent to solve the problem of how to promote the city's economic growth and alleviate the pressure of employment by means of the comprehensive benefits of the Winter Olympics. In view of this, the article discusses how to promote the employment of the host city through the Winter Olympics. Using the methods of literature review, mathematical statistics and comparative research, the article draws on the theories of labor economics and regional economics to study the special value and historical experience of promoting the employment of the host city through the Winter Olympics. Based on this, the article measures the contribution of the 2022 Winter Olympics to the direct employment in the city of Zhangjiakou City, and tries to put forward the employment promotion plan for the city of Zhangjiakou in the post-Winter Olympics era with a view to transforming the negative post-Winter Olympics "trough effect" into a positive "long-tail effect".
