Abstract: The paper summarizes the application of the disequilibrium theory, equilibrium theory, gradient theory, point-axis model and city circle model to the researches of sports development strategies, pointing out the merits and demerits of the present researches. The research results indicates that regional economics has began to be combined with the research of regional sports development strategies, involving the layout of regional sports tourism, sports industry, athletic sports and mass sports. But it is still in its infant period with no theoretic system or joint point between theory and practice.
