Abstract: This present paper studies the self-identity, social identity, group socialization of left-behind children at Wushu schools and the inheritance and expression of Wushu culture. It argues that the acceleration of the urbanization process is the direct cause of the broken families from which left-behind children at Wushu schools come. The absence of the family notion is the main reason for the popularization of counter-school culture with the children and their sense of homelessness in reality and spiritual field. The left-behind children at Wushu schools establish a kind of family similar to the blood-based ones with chivalry as their value orientation. In this kind of family, self-acceptance and individual identification on the basis of self-completeness are the preconditions and foundations for the children to seek a sense of belonging and identity. The "rootless" left-behind children at Wushu schools make it possible to reproduce their identity awareness, promote the transformation of Wushu culture from "identity" to "self-consciousness", strengthen national awareness and self-confidence in the inheritance and expression of Wushu culture, and achieve identity construction and the acceptance and inheritance of Wushu culture.
