The Relationship between Urban Residents' Public Sports Space Perception and Physical Activity Behavior

Abstract: In order to survey the relationship between urban residents' public sports space perception and physical activity behavior, the author developed a scale and conducted a survey of 634 Shanghai residents. The result showed: residents' public sports space perception includes external perception and internal perception. External perception includes accessibility, opportunity of being entered and suitability of parking. Internal perception includes service level and emotional stimulation. Residents' public sports space perception and physical activity are mutually related. Among them, there is close positive correlation between service level and rest day duration, emotional stimulation and travel time, accessibility and travel mode, opportunity of being entered and rest day duration, suitability of parking and consumption per month. Conclusion: improving urban residents' public space perception may be an effective strategy to enhance physical activity.
