Abstract: Facing China’s “new normal” and the new trend of higher education reform during the 13th Five-Year Plan period, and referring to the classification system of colleges and universities, which takes talent-training as its core, we review Chengdu Sport university’s 70 years of experience in education and propose that our goal is to construct it into a “high-level, applied research-oriented multidisciplinary university with distinctive physical education characteristic”. Measures to achieve this goal include: to reform the talent training mode, to promote the construction of first-class disciplines, to reform the evaluation mechanism of scientific research, to enhance the ability to serve the society, to improve the modern University system, to strengthen the construction of teaching team, to expand international exchanges and cooperation, and to complete the school’s relocation project.
