Abstract: The paper depends on literature materials to analyze the sports nature of social dancing and reveals its correlation with the connotation of sports. The research believes that social dancing is similar to sports in that they do not have any purposes at first but only exist in the presentation of human behaviors. From the perspective of the dominant character, both sports and social dancing are of the same characteristics of being healthy, sunny and civilized, but it seems that social dancing is more casual while sports is more standardized in terms of cultural consciousness. In the aspect of body building and social activities, social dancing enables college students to establish correct values in their campus life filled with interactions between the two genders, so it has the value of physical education.
