Abstract: Depending on literature and the related theory of the culturology, the paper discusses the contemporary development of Chinese wushu, believing that the essence of the development of contemporary Chinese wushu is the development of culture, whose development concepts should be constructed from the following three aspects (1) the development of Chinese wushu should return to "tradition" and set up the development concept of "cultural self"; (2) the development of Chinese wushu should learn from others to form the development concept of "making foreign serve China"; (3) the development of Chinese wushu should be modernized to constitute the development concept of "keeping up with the times". With constant changes of the world, Chinese wushu can maintain its exuberant vitality and inherit its thousands of years of history only by establishing its own cultural subject and meeting the needs of society.
