Abstract: Based on Hblbwachs’ “collective memory”, Paul Connerton put forward the concept of “social memory”. Connerton believes that society has its own memory just as individuals which can be preserved and transferred through memorial services and physical practice. Ritual sports provides a “field” for the participants to recall and acquire their ethnic culture, religion, social customs, social norms, group technology and history. In the process of repeated participation and experience, the knowledge becomes an important part of their memories and turns into the memories shared by the whole group through ritual effects and social construction. Ritual sports, as a social behavior, is a physical process based on physical practice, through which social memory is deposited in the participants’ body and is thus preserved and transferred.
