Integration,differentiation and combination: Reflection on the evolution and reconstruction of the relationship between Wushu and TCM

Abstract: The formulation and implementation of the national strategy of “Healthy China” has promoted the organic combination of sports and hygiene, and aroused a thought-provoking on the relationship between the traditional martial arts and traditional medicine, which made the long-silenced theory and practice study of relationship between the two aspects of the traditional ethnic sports has rapidly become a hot spot. From the perspective of historical materialism and dialectical materialism, the evolution of the relationship between “martial arts” and “traditional medicine” can be divided into three stages: integration, differentiation and combination. The logic of the germinal development in the integration stage can be summarized as follows: the closure of farming culture; the order of rural society; the integration of practical rationality. Three factors are attributed to the changes of differentiation stage: the impact of Material reductionism on the holistic view; the impact of individual standard on family standard; the impact of scientific rationality on practical rationality.The idea of reconstruction of the combination stage can be summed up as follows: the reconstruction of the technical system under the concept of “Extensive Hygiene”; the reconstruction of the inheritance way under the concept of “Extensive Sports”; and the reconstruction of the thinking mode under the concept of “Extensive Health”.
